Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager (2IC) for the next season.

They milk 800 cows through a 54 bale rotary platform. The farm is irrigated, having 3 centre pivots, 1 lateral hose-fed irrigator and 30ha on K-lines and located 35Km West of Ashburton.

For this role, we require you to have the following skills:

*At least 2 years of experience on dairy farming.
*Have a strong work ethic and be able to show it through your work history and references.
*Demonstrate high knowledge of animal health, being able to identify and correctly treat sick animals (mastitis, lameness, metabolic and others).
*Show excellent understanding towards mating, having experience and ability to identify cows on heat accurately, select and draft them for AI.
*Commitment towards Health and Safety on Farm.
*Be available to assist with calf rearing and work on public holidays and weekends due to the nature of the job.
*Have good and effective communication and training skills, always being a team player and supporting others in their roles.
*Strong understanding of pasture management and feed budgeting.
*Have competency operating farm machinery and equipment, being responsible to keep maintenance of those up to date.
*Keep milking shed well maintained and at a high level of hygiene.
*Good knowledge with computer programs (Protrack, Minda) and herd records.
*Have an Agricultural degree or AgITO Level 4-5.
*For this position, we require you to have a full and clean NZ driver’s license and to be free from criminal convictions.

You must be able to pass on farm drug testing. The farm is a smoke and drug-free environment.
