What we need
We are currently seeking a Dairy Assistant who has a desire to progress in the dairy industry. This is a Family farm located in Waikuku, the perfect location with an idyllic sandy beach on your doorstep. The Waimakariri area offers a wide range of activities just minutes north of Christchurch.
Live the lifestyle of being rural but have all of the urban treats on your doorstep. On your days off you can enjoy the many outdoor activities that the Waimakariri District is all about, plus enjoy the boutiques shopping and eateries in the neighbouring towns and still be just minutes north of Christchurch.
The farm is a small family farm milking 400 cows through a 36-bale herringbone cowshed. Average hours is 50/week and the roster is 8/2 days off then 8/3.
Remuneration is by negotiation and includes a 3-bedroom home. (not shared)
Duties include milking, bringing in cows for milking, assisting with animal health, mating, and calving. Setting up and taking down temporary electric fences, , moving irrigators, detecting mastitis tractor and machinery work and general farm duties.
A minimum of 1 years’ experience is required, you must be able to use your initiative and complete the above duties with minimal supervision. You will be on a supportive farm that is focused on your learning and progression in the industry.
