What we need
Calves today are tomorrow's herd, so it makes economic sense to give them the best possible start to life, and you could be that person to ensure they are well cared for.
We have clients all throughout Mid Canterbury that are looking for calf rearer’s, most positions are drive-in, although some of our large scale farms do have accommodation available on-farm for the right person.
These roles would suit someone who is wanting flexibility with school hours, part-time work or as a stepping stone into a full-time job in the dairy industry. Full training is provided.
What you need
The biggest thing you need is empathy, patience, and an affinity for calves. You will assist with calf births, feeding, caring and weaning calves and assist with calf health management (including giving medicines as required).
Milking experience and safe use of farm machinery is an advantage.
